East Coast Tour, Summer 2008
So here's some highlights of our East Coast tour in June.
In short, we played lots of amazing shows across 12 states and met tons of nice folks along the way.
Thanks so much to all the bands, bookers, promoters, and people who came out to see us, dug us, and let us crash—we really appreciate it.
Many props are below, but it's not nearly everybody...
Set list for most shows:
*Wilhelm Scream Dream Team (Masks-coming soon)
*The Cosmic Cosby Penguin Dance (All Star Destroyers EP)
*Shredder Of Wheat & Souls (All Star Destroyers EP)
*Indiana Jones Theme (cover)

*Finger-Hymns (Stanislaw Stories LP)
*Debacle (All Star Destroyers EP)
*Like A Virgin (Madonna Cover)
*Disco Fever Blister (Stanislaw Stories LP)
*Shallowed be Thy Game (Masks-coming soon)

This is Centralia, PA on the way to Charleroi.
The local highway was split open by a massive underground coal fire started accidentally in the 60's. It's been burning for over 40 years; most of the town's inhabitants have long since left. This place was the inspiration for the computer game and subsequent movie Silent Hill. |
CLEVELAND, OH (6/7/08)
Much thanks to 'Lightning Fingers' Steve for everything, including rocking our jams on local radio station WRUW and for taking the pro photo set of us jumping around in the wreckage of the local industrial hellscape. See photos page. We also got a cool shout in Cleveland Scene.

CHICAGO, IL (6/6/08)
Crazy night at Damaged-- the guys from Stuck Underwater rocked us with their cool proggy shit while their singer did headstands and one-armed pushups, and the owner Steve had some fond memories about getting into brawls when visiting Fisherman's Wharf in SF...

MADISON, WI (6/5/08)
A gothic castle-like dorm with gigantic bay windows overlooking a lake— the Nottingham Co-op is definitely one of the coolest venues we've played. Much props to Dan for having us. Bullshitdozer (Tim and Carl from Complexcomplex) rocked some incredible improv shit featuring a Mr. T talking keyring, and Echoes of Empire brought some fierce live energy.

ST LOUIS, MO (6/9/08)
After some maneuvering to get around a flooded interstate, we made it down to the Lemp Arts Center for an amazing show-- the experimental instrumental scene there seems to be going strong these days. Thanks to Sleep State for setting this up, and for tearing up the stage.

ATLANTA, GA (6/10/08)
The EARL in Atlanta was the furthest south we got, so we'll have to come back and rock the deep south soon. This was a stacked bill with Dysrhythmia headlining-- an incredible band we played with a few time throughout the year including in LA and NYC. Also, props to Bavard and Jonathan for sneaking in and helping us with merch. We'll try to do an all-ages show next time!

RICHMOND, VA (6/11/08)
Below are a couple of shots from the Richmond Alley Katz show. Thanks to Sean for putting the show together.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (6/13/08) Thanks to Ricardo (the amazing drummer for Altamira / Capillary Action / Joe Lally) for hooking us up at the original location of the School of Rock and with a place to stay. Apart from the obvious location of the Rocky steps, we checked out the Mutter museum of medical curiosities museum in Philly. The shrunken heads and the body that turned to soap were my favorite exhibits. |
BOSTON, MA (6/12/08)
We also played with the Eroica guys earlier this year in January... it was great to reconnect with them and rock Northeastern—check em out, they make incredible music and couldn't be nicer guys. The Celtics made a huge comeback in the NBA finals earlier this night, so the crowd was ridiculously hyped.
We also got interviewed about this show for the school newspaper The Northeastern News.

Brooklyn, NYC (6/14/08)
In the pissing rain through flooded NY streets we finally arrived at Death by Audio, custom stompbox factory and hip Brooklyn venue. Locals Burbis and Hazel-Rah killed it, and Tristan Da Cunha brought the mayhem from Boston. Special thanks to Dmitri for coming out— after meeting him last time we were in town, he totalling his car driving home from seeing us. Luckily he was OK and decided we weren't the cause of his bad luck, and came back for more destruction of the sonic kind!
